Since 2007, the Cricket Foundation and the British Army have joined forces to host Super Camps in parts of the UK. Hundreds of children from local state schools have taken part in three-day camps to develop cricketing, leadership and teamwork skills.
Activities range from tackling inflatable assault courses and climbing walls to batting, bowling and fielding drills. In 2008, two thousand boys and girls enjoyed camps in Cheshire, Lancashire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire.
Colonel John Moody, who has helped to co-ordinate the camps, said: “We feel that cricket shares the Army’s key values of courage, discipline, respect for others, integrity, loyalty, selfless commitment and we’re keen to continue our work with Chance to shine.”
